About This Show

Amerika is a farcical journey through the mind of Franz Kafka as he finds himself trapped in the world of his own novel. Written by Williamstown Theatre Festival writer/director Alexander Poe, the play explores the dark comedy of Kafka’s life and work (The Trial, The Castle). The play pits Kafka against his overbearing father, sadistic co-workers, a con artist named Zoltan and temperamental characters who don’t always do as they’re told. Combining inventive staging with a stunning visual design, this is a fresh take on Kafka that finds the comedy in the Czech writer’s dark world.
