About This Show

THIS SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO THE FALL 2003 SEASON

Lynn Redgrave returns to the New York stage in her new play, The Mandrake Root. Inspired by the Redgrave matriarch, Lady Rachel Kempson, the play explores the volatile relationship between the daughter of a celebrated theatrical family and her aging actress mother. The play, both funny and sensual, takes it’s name from the John Donne poem that alludes to the powerful aphrodisiac, hallucinogen and poison that is the mandrake. Warner Shook directs.
