Chay Yew directs his adaptation of Frederico Garcia Lorca’s all-female classic drama, The House of Bernardo Alba. Heading the 22-member cast is Obie Award-winner Ching Valdes-Aran. The play is about a tyrannical mother and the five daughters over whom she maintains iron rule: following the death of her second husband, Bernarda Alba confines her daughters to eight years of mourning, dressed in black, cloistered like nuns. Among the events that ensue is the tragic discovery that the youngest daughter is having a liason with her eldest sister’s fiance.
