About This Show

Musical theater superstar Michael Ball (Aspects of Love, The Phantom of the Opera) makes his City Opera debut in Gilbert & Sullivan’s rollicking, irrepressibly funny operetta. Twenty maidens are lovesick for two pretentious poets, but the bards are vying for Patience, the simple village milkmaid who cares nothing for their verses. Ultimately, they all learn that the key to winning in love is not to play any games at all.

Featuring music by Arthur Sullivan, with libretto by W.S. Gilbert. Sung in English with English supertitles.

“Michael Ball is “the best musical theater tenor of his generation.” – Daily Mail

Patience is “a dazzling tour de force.” – New York Magazine
