New York City Gay Men’s Chorus (NYCGMC) rounds out its 24th season with Out on Broadway, a new work that pays tribute to both the gay creators of America’s musical theatre and the gay characters and subjects from some of the most popular shows on the Great White Way. The concert features a book by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Terrence McNally.
The evening features songs including ‘No Tune Like A Show Tune’ form Barnum; ‘The Cell Block Tango’ from Chicago; ‘If He Walked Into My Life’ from Mame; ‘Keep It Gay’ from The Producers; ‘If You Were Gay’ from Avenue Q; ‘I Am What I Am/A Little More Mascara’ from La Cage Aux Folles; ‘Will I’ from Rent; and ‘You Could Never Shame Me’ from McNally’s own Kiss of The Spider Woman. Musical selections are arranged by Alex Rybeck and performed under the baton of NYCGMC Artistic Director Jeffrey Maynard.
