About This Show

The Classical Theatre of Harlem kicks off its 2006/2007 season with a mystical and physical production of what is widely considered Shakespeare’s greatest dramatic work. Tony Award nominee André De Shields returns to the Classical Theatre of Harlem for his third collaboration with CTH Artistic Director, Alfred Preisser. Previously, Mr. DeShields received critical acclaim for his performances in Dream on Monkey Mountain and Caligula at CTH. King Lear is a co-production with the Folger Theatre in Washington, DC.

The Classical Theatre of Harlem’s production of Shakespeare’s tragedy is unfortunately played at the top of the cast’s lungs.
