About the Show

Katori Hall’s Hoodoo Love, directed by Lucie Tiberghien, is a southern tale of love, magic, jealousy and secrets. Toulou escapes from the Mississippi Delta cotton fields to pursue her dream of singing the blues in Memphis. When she meets a rambling blues man, the notorious Ace of Spades, this dream is realized in a way she could never have imagined.

Hoodoo Love was nominated for three 2006 AUDELCO Awards (Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, August Wilson Playwright Award), winning one for Best Supporting Actress. Katori Hall received the Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award and 2nd place for the Paula Vogel Playwriting Award at the 2005 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. She is a 2007 winner of the Fellowship of Southern Writers Bryan Family Award in Drama, 2006 recipient of the New York Foundation of the Arts Fellowship in Playwriting and Screenwriting, and 2006 writing resident at the Royal Court Theatre. She has been nominated for the 2007 Wendy Wasserstein Prize and the 2007 Susan Smith Blackburn Award.
