About the Show

The New Group (naked), a production division of The New Group, kicks off its third season this Spring with two works presented in repertory: Strangers Knocking, written by Robert Tenges and directed by Marie Masters; and Expats, written by Heather Lynn MacDonald and directed by Ari Edelson.

Set in Moscow soon after the fall of the Soviet Union, Expats looks at American twenty-somethings trying to make their mark amidst the sex, death and corruption of Russia’s emerging marketplace. Heather Lynn MacDonald’s play follows the intersecting paths of a beer-selling entrepreneur, a young woman who volunteers at an abortion clinic, and two cynical young journalists running an English-language tabloid, each of whom dig into the dark underbelly of the capitalist transition.
