About This Show

After their acclaimed productions of Electra and Medea dazzled New York audiences, the National Theater of Greece returns with a new production of Sophocles’ great tragedy, Oedipus Rex. When the King of Thebes banishes his young son to die, based upon a prophecy that his child would grow up to murder him, the baby is raised by the King and Queen of Korinthus and named Oedipus. The grown Oedipus receives an oracle that sets the character’s inescapable plight in motion.
