Cherylyn Lavagnino, artistic director of Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance, will present the company’s fully produced edition of Mythologies, her 2021 choreographic work inspired by the stories of Ancient Greece, and sequential episodes of her newest theater-dance work in process, The Winter’s Tale, based on one of Shakespeare’s last great plays. Lavagnino’s choreography is inspired by issues of social injustice and the concern for the human condition, fueling sensitive and compassionate work with the intent to heal and call attention to the issues faced by women, people of color, and other marginalized groups. She has created over 40 works in the past 15 years, and since 2000 the platform for her choreography has been Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance (CLD).
