About This Show

Critically acclaimed France based jazz group and Belugas/Nocturne recording artists Moutin Reunion Quartet return to the states for 6 dates in their final USA jolt. Featuring gifted twins, Louis and Francois, with Rick Margitza on saxophone and Pierre de Bathmann on piano, this quartet.

2008 brought the highly energetic critically acclaimed group to the states, with appearances in Ann Arbor, Traverse and Detroit, Michigan; Syracuse, NY; Chicago, Ill and a tour de force performance at their South Bend debut at Trio’s, adding another great review to their already collection book.  2007 was a very busy for the Moutin Reunion Quartet. They toured the US in January, continued with a European tour in February; while recording its fourth album "Sharp Turn". In April, the quartet was in residence for a week at the Opera National de Lyon and for three days at the Ballard Jazz Festival in Seattle, WA. They toured the USA in June through September, also appearing in several festivals in France and in Turkey. After the release of "Sharp Turns" early November, the band has been on the road again for a 15 date tour, starting in France mid November and then going to the USA from east cost to west coast, ending at Jazz Alley in Seattle mid December. The conclusion of the year was an appearance at l ‘Olympia in Paris for the annual show of the Parisian major jazz radio TSF.

What the Crictics are saying:

"Who needs music when you have bios like these guys? See Them at Green Mill" -Time Out/Chicago

"The quartet has a bustling energy, and even in his edgier moments retains an aura of good humour" -Barry Witherden

"L’Académie du jazz a décerné ses récompenses, dont le prestigieux prix Django Reinhardt (musicien français de l’année) aux frères François et Louis Moutin."

"Both brothers are composers, each contributing four originals to this CD.  Their tunes are clean, clever and very contemporary and the record is an interesting combination of European technical ability, tempered by their US experiences and (represented by Margitza’s post-Coltrane conception) American emotion." -Jazz Wise
