Laura Andel: Doble Mano

About the Show

New York-based Argentinean composer and conductor Laura Andel premieres a newly commissioned 45-minute work titled Doble Mano for her nine-piece orchestra comprised of an unusually eclectic instrumentation that includes bandoneon, gamelan, instruments, Fender Rhodes, accordion, vibraphone, cornet, viola, clarinets, piano, and double bass.

By writing scores that balance composition, textural improvisation, and compositional conducting, Andel creates unique sonic landscapes that are sometimes ritualistic and built from musical elements ranging from avant-garde jazz to contemporary classical.
