Christalyn Wright premieres her new work, Struggles with Words, Attitudes and Great Expectation, inspired by The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, with video by artist Liza Johnson. Wright uses a multi-disciplinary approach to the creative process by incorporating found text, live interviews, dance techniques, and vocalizations into her work. Wright will be performing in the Fall of 2006 in Carl Hancock Rux’s Mycenaean.
Christalyn Wright is a Brooklyn-based choreographer/dancer whose work has been presented on ABC’s Good Morning America, and at numerous venues nationally and internationally including the Joyce Soho, Danspace Project, Dixon Place, Aaron Davis Hall, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, The Windybrow Center for the Arts (Johannesburg), the ACDFA Gala Performance at Slippery Rock University, The Ebenezer Experimental Festival (Sweden), Dance Place (D.C.), the Painted Bride (Philadelphia), and The Penumbra Theatre (St. Paul).
