Based on the Grimm’s fairy tale about an elf who spins straw into gold, Kirsten Childs’ new musical Rumpelstiltskin features Darius de Haas in the title role, as well as La Chanze, Steven Pasquale and John Jellison. Wilfredo Medina directs, with Randall Eng as musical director.

Hear & Now: Contemporary Lyricists with Michael Winther

Michael Winther, joined by special guest Julia Murney, performs the music of emerging lyricists, including John Mercurio, Nathan Tysen, Maryrose Wood, Mindi Dickstein, Rufus Wainwright, Peter Mills, Jason Robert Brown, and Brian Crawley. Kimberly Grigsby serves as musical director.

The Lyrics of Andy Razaf

Bobby Short, one of only two singers to ever record an album of lyrics by Andy Razaf, hosts an evening devoted to Razaf’s music. Razaf remains little known despite having written the lyrics for such songs as “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Honeysuckle Rose,” and “Black and Blue.” Anika Noni Rose and Keith Byron Kirk join Short to celebrate Razaf’s work.
