The Theater for the New City is pleased to present Walter Corwin’s A Short History of Now,  a  series of political satires composed by Theater For The New City stalwart Walter Corwin and directed by Forest Gillespie, founder of the Dome theater and co-founder of Spectacle theater in Williamsburg.

Director: Forrest Gillespie is a writer and director who has been doing shows in NYC for twenty years; he co-founded a stage theater in California and micro-cinema – Spectacle Theater – in Williamsburg.

The Playwright: Walter Corwin is a fixture at the Theater for the New City, where he has been staging his plays for the past 40 years.  He has also had works performed at LaMama Etc., The Public Theater, The American Theater of Actors and on Clocktower Radio.  He assisted Playwright Ed Bullins at the Public Theater and participated in The Actors Studio and The Herbert Berghof Studio.

COVID Protocol:
As of September 12, 2022, all guests ages 5 and and older are required to show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use by the FDA or WHO.

Proof of vaccination may include the NYC Vaccination Record, CDC Vaccination Card (or photo), Excelsior Pass or NYC COVID Safe App.

All patrons must be vaccinated in order to see shows. Please provide proof of vaccination before picking up tickets.

Wearing of masks is suggested in the lobby, restrooms and performance spaces at Theater for the New City, but they are not required.
