A Night For Dottie

On Sunday, April 5, 2009, Comix hosts A Night for Dottie, a one night only stand up and sketch comedy benefit show supported by Comedy Fights Cancer. In addition to hilarious performances by comedians including Paul F. Tompkins (VH1’s Best Week Ever, Mr. Show with Bob and David) the night will include raffle prize giveaways such as a Coach bag, tickets to The Colbert Report, a basket filled with La Prairie products, and more!

A Night for Dottie is being held in honor of Dottie Person, a loving and devoted wife and mother of five who at just 32 years old lost her battle with cancer. Her amazing spirit and never-ending grace and gratitude stayed with her until her last day.  Comedy Fights Cancer is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that delivers live and taped stand up comedy to patients in hospitals and care facilities.  Their mission is to improve patient quality of life through humor.

A Night for Dottie brings together comedians from different walks of life to celebrate her life through laughter and raise money for her five children she left behind.  Performers include:    PAUL F. She was diagnosed with melanoma during her eighth month of pregnancy. Jack was born safe and sound and is the youngest of Dottie’s five beautiful children who also include Elise, Caroline, Mary Katherine and Drew.   Dottie died on April 2, 2007 at age 32. She died as an inspiration of faith, hope, and love. More importantly, she taught us how to live. Dottie walked the simple way of gratitude and encouraged us to “focus on present joy, not unknowns or what-ifs.” Dottie’s remarkable story of motherhood and love through overwhelming adversity has become a voice of hope that is touching more lives than she could have ever dreamed.
