2017 Short New Play Festival

About This Show

In the 2017 Short New Play Festival, eight brand-new plays written in response to the theme “delusions of grandeur” receive performances as staged readings. Every year, the Short New Play Festival presents work featuring heightened language and classical themes. This year, six plays — by Charlotte Ahlin, Uriah Celaya, Justin Halle, Rachel Leopold, Jason Gray Platt, and Christian Simonsen — were selected through an open submission process. Two more plays were commissioned, one from Arthur Kopit (Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma’s Hung You in the Closet and I’m Feelin’ So Sad) and the other from Dael Orlandersmith (Beauty’s Daughter).
