About This Show

Although full of blood, violence, incest and interspecies sex, Bat Boy: The Musical has won several awards, earned rave reviews and is regarded as one of the funniest and most imaginative musicals in years. The show tells the story of Bat Boy, affectionately named Edgar by his foster family, who learns to speak and walk upright while yearning for acceptance. As he tries to join society, Edgar must learn to deal with a town that fears him and a foster father who harbors a jealous rage.

Originally produced off-Broadway, Bat Boy was inspired by a tabloid story in The Weekly World News about a half-bat, half-human boy. The show is written by Keythe Farley, Brian Flemming and Laurence O’Keefe. Bat Boy stars Michael Diehls in the title role and Mandy Murphy as Shelley. Jessica Sentak directs.

In conjunction with Bat Boy: The Musical, The Academy Theatre hosts “Another Bloody Musical Blood Drive” for The American Red Cross during opening weekend on Saturday, February 24 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Participants in the blood drive receive half price tickets to the Bat Boy performance of their choice.

There is no 2:00pm matinee on Saturday, February 24.
