About This Show

It’s Christmas of 1183, and England’s future is at stake while an aging and wily King Henry II convenes his fractured family to name a successor. Henry’s young mistress Princess Alais, his three flawed sons Richard, Geoffrey and John and his equally conniving wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine (whom Henry has imprisoned) resort to various forms of deception and treachery to influence the succession.

This production of The Lion in Winter stars veteran actress Karen Asconi of Bogota as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine and seasoned actor Andrew Lionetti of Westwood as King Henry II, and features Larry Kadish of New Milford as Geoffrey, Meena Dimian as Philip, Amoy Christian as Alais, Brad Fraizer as Richard, and introduces young Grant MacDermott of Teaneck as John in his first dramatic stage role.

Director Steve Hess and Producer Frank Avellino created Boz and the Bard Productions in 2000 in honor of their favorite writers, Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare. Previous Boz and the Bard projects include Off-Off-Broadway productions of Like Bees to Honey and critically-praised world premieres of Marjorie Conn’s Miss Lizzie Borden Invites You to Tea and Warren Green’s Harry Consumed.
