About This Show

If you can’t make it to all of Broadway’s top shows, Broadway’s best come to Morristown, with a hilarious twist, when The Community Theatre presents the Forbidden Broadway 20th Anniversary Tour.

As long as there’s a Broadway, Forbidden Broadway will be there, poking, prodding, teasing, pleasing, jeering and cheering, but always, with love. What began as a simple cabaret act at the Supper Club on New York’s Upper West Side in January, 1982 to give creator/lyricist Gerard Alessandrini a showcase for his talents has become New York’s longest running musical
comedy revue. Hailed by critics and audiences alike, the original Forbidden Broadway won Drama Desk, Obie and Outer Critics Circle awards and captured the heart of the theatre industry itself. Many of its legendary “victims,” including Bernadette Peters, Tommy Tune, Angela Lansbury, Stephen Sondheim, Hal Prince, and Andrew Lloyd Webber have been among the celebrities who’ve stopped by to applaud first-hand.

Starring in the performance will by Billy Kimmel, Gina Kreiezmar, Leisa
Mather and Ed Staudenmayer. Musical Director Bill Stanley will perform at
the piano. The show is created, written and produced by Gerard Alessandrini. John Freedson and Harriet Yellin are the producers.
