About This Show

Margate Players present Neil Simon’s smash hit, Brighton Beach Memoirs. The play is a lighthearted sentimental comedy about a Brooklyn teenager in 1937. Amid an extended Jewish family, 15-year-old Eugene Jerome yearns to play for the Yankees – and to know more about girls. As if the frustrations of adolescence aren’t enough, Eugene lives the life of a poor boy in an overcrowded Brooklyn home with two families under one roof – his parents, his aunt, two cousins, and his brother, Stanley. As Eugene’s father says, “If you didn’t have a problem, you wouldn’t live in this house.”
