About This Show

A Stop on the “A” Train: A Celebration of Black Artists in Tap spotlights the explosive energy of tap and the creative contributions of African-American dance artists to this dance form. The show takes the audience from the Harlem Renaissance to the present day, into nightclubs and on street corners, to see the tap virtuosos who blazed the dance floors. Set to classic compositions by American jazz composers.

A Stop on the “A” Train features works from the early days and artistry of pioneering dancers such as Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and the Nicholas Brothers, through to today’s tap generation including artists such as Savion Glover and the late Gregory Hines.
