“Swoony, splashy, frisky, zippy…”, is how The Guardian described the juke-box musical, Head Over Heels in their 2018 review. A mash-up of 16th century literature, 1980’s new wave feminist pop music and gender queer themes, Head Over Heels is just the frothy treat needed in this moment.

Head Over Heels takes as its source material, Sir Philip Sidney’s 1580 heroic prose poem Arcadia and incorporates the hit songs of the 1980’s all-female band, The Go-Go’s. In the story we meet a royal family that must go on a quest to save their kingdom. When Pythio (The Oracle of Delphi) reveals four prophecies to the family, King Basilus, Queen Gynecia and their two daughters must leave the safety of what they know in search of answers to save their kingdom.
