About This Show

Performed by the Repertory Dance Theatre, Time Capsule: A Century of Dance takes audiences on a guided tour through a 100-year legacy. The multi-media retrospective pays homage to the ingenuity, creativity and inventive spirit of legendary 20th century choreographers and includes excerpts from Isadora Duncan’s “Valse Brilliante,” Doris Humphrey’s “Soaring,” Daniel Nagrin’s “Strange Hero,” José Limón’s “There Is A Time,” Anna Sokolow’s “Lyric Suite,” Shapiro & Smith’s “Dance for Two Army Blankets,” and Laura Dean’s “Sky Light.” This one-of-a-kind performance not only lives, but breathes, sweats and leaps.

Founded in 1966 and based in Salt Lake City, the Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT) is both a museum and contemporary gallery representing the scope and diversity of modern dance, past and present. Clive Barnes of The New York Post described the company as “one of the liveliest and most imaginative modern dance troupes in the world.”

Time Capsule: A Century of Dance is presented as part of American Masterpieces: Three Centuries of Genius, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nevada Arts Council, a division of the Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs.
