The Last Five Years

The Last Five Years, by Jason Robert Brown, is an insightful, emotionally-charged musical in which we hear both sides of a love story. The character of Jamie begins his story at the start of a relationship with Cathy, who simultaneously tells her side of the story from the end of their relationship, after five years of marriage. The characters meet face-to-face only once, in the middle of the show, on their wedding day. This time-shifting plot device provides a unique and unusual examination of the yearnings, conflicts and neuroses that bring two people together…and can also drive them apart.
