About the Show

One of the greatest plays in American theater, The Glass Menagerie broke through all convention when it premiered in 1944. Rich in symbolism, Tennessee Williams’ “memory play” told the story of Amanda Wingfield, her children Tom and Laura, and the heartache that accompanied their everyday lives as well as their dreams. Now, in 2007, The Gold Dust Orphans present their slightly twisted version of this undisputed masterpiece.

Set in modern day New Orleans against a conflicting backdrop of Southern perseverance and the corruption of urban renewal, The Plexiglass Menagerie promises to be a truly inspired endeavor: following in the footsteps, and perhaps surpassing the likes of such classics as Pussy on the House and A T-Stop named Denial (both former Orphan takes on Williams’ great body of works).
