The Kentucky Cycle is a series of 9 plays, over 6 hours, presented in 2 parts. A cast of 23 actors depict the riveting story of 7 generations of 3 intersecting families that reside in an impoverished section of eastern Kentucky. All told, the story covers a span of 200 years from 1775 to 1975. It features a plethora of characters who struggle to retain the land they believe to be rightfully theirs: First, as European immigrants in the frontier days clashing with Native American tribes; then as early Americans battling the young government; all the way through the American Civil War times and beyond to the rural state’s own battle trying to establish coal mining unions while dealing with agonizing poverty.
