About This Show

Salvation Army lieutenant Joan Dark descends into the lower depths of Chicago’s slaughter houses where she encouters the misery, greed and restlessness of the meat-packing poor. To alleviate their suffering, Joan appeals to Chicago’s rich, conscience-stricken butcher-boss, Pierpont Mauler. But when Joan realizes that Mauler’s philanthropy keeps the poor poor and the rich rich, her crusade for charity turns into a violent struggle to overthrow the system. -jam
