About This Show

Combining the wild excitement of poetry slams with live theater, SlamBoston has played to sold out houses since its inception in October, 2003. 6-8 plays, representing the most diverse voices possible, compete in a poetry slam format. This means that after each play is performed it is scored by the judges as in the Olympics (with a 1-10 score.) The winning play takes home a cash prize. On night 2, the plays reverse order and the composite score is the winner of the Slam (bigger prize.) The audience participates by expressing their opinions of the judges scores (booing or cheering.) It is the rowdiest, most exciting political theater around.
