S27: Winetasting: Developing Advanced Skills

About the Show

To complement our existing multi-level wine programs, we’re
excited to introduce a new class designed to sharpen
your tasting skills and build on the knowledge you’ve gained in our
survey, winemaking, and higher-level courses.

Throughout the course, you’ll
focus on:

  • Identifying different
regional expressions of the same grape variety
  • Evaluating wine quality
    at a professional level
  • Separating the
influences of winemaking, climate, and grape varietal character
  • Writing accurate,
    professional-quality tasting notes

Tastings will focus on grape
and region laterals that are commonly difficult to differentiate
, and explore how production choices impact style,
highlight subtle distinctions between similar wines, and challenge you to
assess quality through blind tastings.

By the end of the course,
you’ll have a deeper, more refined understanding of the key sensory skills
required for advanced work in the wine trade, wine journalism, and
other professional roles.

Prerequisite: This class is ideal for
