Choro Democrático plays the lively style of Brazilian choro music, which began in Rio nearly a century ago. They are: Luciana Araripe (bandolim), Adam Bahrami (cavaquinho), Fernando Brandão (flute), Jason Davis (7-string guitar), Keita Ogawa (pandeiro), Chris Richards (violin), and Tom Rohde (6-string guitar). Following their set, the group will lead a roda da choro, a traditional Rio jam session, for anyone who wants to join in. Lead-sheets will be available for some tunes, and percussion is always welcome, so bring your instruments for a winter break in Rio.
