Lea Delaria: DeLightful DeLicious DeLaria

About the Show

The music of Cole Porter, The comedy of Lea DeLaria

Lea DeLaria has been a professional lesbian since 1982. “Before that I freelanced.” She burst onto the stand up scene as the FIRST OPENLY GAY COMIC on network TV. She parlayed this fame into specials on HBO, SHOWTIME and COMEDY CENTRAL as well as guest appearances on practically every sit com of the 90’s as the lesbian who inappropriately hits on straight women. “Its so funny I never get tired of it.” After years in L.A. playing PE teachers and police lieutenants, Lea’s second big break came when cast in the Broadway revival of On The Town for which she won OBIE, DRAMA DESK and THEATER WORLD AWARDS. After this she remained in NYC where they let her play everything… straight women: she was an ugly stepsister with ANA GASTEYER in NYC Opera’s Cinderella or lesbians: Mama Morton with JASMINE GUY in Chicago even men: Lea played Eddie with JOAN JETT in The Rocky Horror Show. “I got paid to make out with Joan 8 times a week.” Lea tours the world performing her one of a kind set coupling in your face queer comedy, “I’ve been officially censored by the US Congress” with hard core swinging Jazz.” I have 3 records out on the Warner Jazz label.” If you are already a fan of Lea’s then you know what to do. If you have never seen her, Lea DeLaria is a genuine Queer Legend she is not to be missed.
