Into the Woods

New Repertory Theatre presents Into the Woods, with music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by James Lapine. Rick Lombardo directs, with music direction by Todd C. Gordon. This Tony Award winning musical fable asks the question: what happens after “happily ever after”?

The faces and names are familiar — Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Ridinghood — but the intricate themes of these epic fables conjure cautionary morals about modern relationships, communities, and society. Soncheim’s brilliant music — together with bakers, witches, and competitive, vain handsome princes straight out of the Brothers Grimm — vividly illustrates the potential for treachery in our innermost wishes.
