Fifth-annual Plays in Process: The Area Between Us by Ashlyn Frank

July 30th at 7pm, held outdoors at the Rose Footprint Theatre In a parking lot of a Best Buy right off the Vegas strip, eccentric Kathy Ann waits for extra-terrestrials to unite her with her long-lost missing daughter. Ryan, a Gen Z Best Buy employee, has been asked by his boss to move her away. A whimsical, empathetic soul, he is drawn into her story and joins her as she cooks dinner and attempts to make sense of the radio communications received from this and possibly other worlds. The Plays in Process series returns for its fifth year, showcasing new, developing works and offering a behind-the-scenes look at scripts as they are readied for the stage. Held at the Rose Footprint Theatre in Lenox, the series focuses on refining narratives through staged readings, and has successfully transitioned several early-stage readings into fully realized world-premiere productions, including 2025’s The Victim by Lawrence Goodman and 2024’s Three Tall Persian Women by Awni Abdi-Bahri.
