About the Show

Bridge Theater presents Maria Irene Fornes’ Obie Award-winning play ABINGDON SQUARE and WHAT GHOSTS THERE WERE by Boston Area playwright Todd Hearon in the Leland Center. ABINGDON SQUARE probes with raw delicacy the real and imagined worlds of a young woman as she struggles to conquer her vagueness. Ms. Fornes balances contradictions of form as rhythmically as it balances those of youth stumbling into experience.
Todd Hearon’s WHAT GHOSTS THERE WERE looks into the mind of memory of a young woman as she poses in an artist’s loft for his rendering of a nude. This contemporary verse monologue reveals that there are things smoldering in the past, even of the young, that are immutable. A fascinating combo for an engaging evening of theater. -vn
