The new year will usher in the premiere of Dael Orlandersmith’s Yellowman. Centered around the doomed love affair of Alma, a dark skinned African-American woman, and Eugene, a light-skinned African-American man. Yellowman is a lyrical and provocative exploration of racism within the African-American community that demonstrates how the sins of the past become the legacy of the future. Valerie Curtis-Newton directs this production for Southern Rep, starring Lance Nichols and Karen Kaia-Livers.
