About This Show

Ibsen’s smalltown thriller has been inexplicably neglected in British theatres, and this is a welcome revival, marking the centenary of Ibsen’s death. It’s a tight, suspenseful drama, in which wealthy ship-owner Bernick discovers just how far he is prepared to go in order to conceal his shameful past.

Perfectly capturing the stifling dynamics of smalltown life, this is one of the Norwegian playwrights best and most accessible works. Marianne Elliott directs.
