About the Show

Oliver was originally crated in 1968 and is based on Charles Dickens’s novel Oliver Twist. During this popular musical, Oliver is sold to a Dunstable undertaker after asking for more dinner at the orphanage. Escaping to London, he is taken in by the notorious Fagin to join his gang of child pickpockets, which includes the Artful Dodger, who quickly befriends Oliver. One day, wrongly accused of a theft, Oliver meets Mr. Brownlow, a kindly gentleman. To the chagrin of one of Fagin’s oldest pupils, the despicable Bill Sykes, Oliver is offered shelter in Brownlow’s home. Nancy, Sikes’ girlfriend, has also become one of Oliver’s friends, and is suddenly in a precarious situation, divided in her loyalty to her new young friend and Sikes, who demands she help him find Oliver. The story that ensues is one of musical theater’s most engaging tales, sure to delight young and old alike!
