New York City
I Saw You is the first show to bring the lonely, bizarre, hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking world of personal ads back to the bar scene where they began. Who are the people who place these ads about a chance encounter with a stranger on a train or bar or maybe even the street in Chicago? I Saw You allows you to meet them at various neighborhood spots on the North side this summer.
Incorporating the uncensored text from the Chicago Reader "Matches" section, the ensemble covers everything from missed connections to X-rated solicitations for all manner of sexual behavior. Everyone in the city has at one point placed a personal ad or thought about responding to one, and I Saw You is about, to borrow from Sesame Street, "meeting the people in your neighborhood." The bar setting is emblematic of the singles scene and provides the ideal locale for this strange and funny show.
