The Shakespeare Stealer

About the Show

Adapted by Gary Blackwood from his ALA Notable Children’s Book Award-winning novel of the same name, The Shakespeare Stealer follows a young boy’s search for a place to call home.

The year is 1601. William Shakespeare has just written Hamlet, his greatest play and the envy of rival theatres throughout England. Widge, an orphan boy with the rare ability to read and write, finds a new family among the actors of Shakespeare’s company. But Widge is soon mixed up in a world of intrigue and deceit as he is forced to transcribe and steal the Bard’s play for a mysterious stranger.

With daring swordplay, period theatrical special effects and the chance to experience Hamlet as it was first seen, this play is recommended for audiences 8 and older.
