About This Show

Chicago Dramatists hosts ethnically diverse playwrights for its first annual Many Voices Project playwriting festival. During the festival, twelve full-length and six 10-minute plays receive staged readings. Exclusively sponsored by the Sara Lee Foundation, the Many Voices Project is Chicago’s first playwriting contest and developmental showcase that embraces all playwrights of color.

The Project brings together at Chicago Dramatists the city’s race and ethnic-specific theatres who have searched out and selected, from a pool of over 150 submissions from across the country, twelve scripts by playwrights of African, Latin, Caribbean, Pacific Island, Asian, East Indian, Arab, and Native American descent.
