About This Show

Circle Theatre presents the Midwest premiere of Thou Shalt Not, conceived by Susan Stroman and featuring music and lyrics by Harry Connick, Jr., with a book by David Thompson. Kevin Bellie directs and choreographs.

Adapted from Emile Zola’s 1867 novel Therese Raquin, the musical depicts the smoldering and sensuous, but ultimately tragic relationship between a young married woman and a charismatic jazz musician, who is returning from the war. Set in steamy New Orleans just after the close of World War II, this is a gripping tale of uncontrolled passions — love, hatred, violence, and madness.
