About This Show

On a moonlit night in the California desert shortly after the Gulf War, Gabriela longs for the return of her husband Benito. In this meditation of the impossible, a cat and coyote tango while the moon serenades the desert with a violin. Filled with moonstruck poetry and magical realism, Peruvian-born José Rivera’s lyrical text, References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot, celebrates the confusion that can grow out of love and the way in which nature reflects human relationships.

References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot is being presented as part of the New Directors Series at The Theatre School at DePaul University. New Directors Series productions are directed in partial fulfillment of the Master of Fine Arts in Directing.

A post-show discussion with the cast is scheduled for Thursday, November 2.
