Letters From Tennessee: A Distant Country Called Youth

About the Show

Director Kate Whoriskey returns to the Goodman to stage Tennessee Williams’ hopeful paean to love, The Rose Tattoo. In conjunction with the Albert production, the Goodman will present the Chicago premiere of Letters from Tennessee: A Distant Country Called Youth , a new one-man show of letters from Tennessee Williams adapted for the stage by Steve Lawson. The play highlights correspondence sent to family, friends and professional associates. At times humorous, and often highly personal, Williams reveals through his letters the tormented family life, distant travels and casual lovers that served as the basis for his early masterpieces.
