About This Show

From the bankside of the Thames to the shores of Lake Michigan and far beyond, Shakespeare’s Globe is embarking on an unprecedented theatrical adventure. Touring to every country in the world over the next two years, the company will travel by boat, train, car and airplane across the seven continents to stage Hamlet in a huge range of unique and atmospheric venues—from village squares to national theaters, palaces and beaches. On a stripped-down wooden stage, just twelve actors will perform over two dozen parts, with the role of Hamlet shared by Ladi Emeruwa and Naeem Hayat. One of only two US stops on the tour, Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Courtyard Theater will play host to this raw, thrillingly elemental production of Shakespeare’s classic story of deferred revenge.
