About the Show

Join teen idol Frankie Avalon on a trip back to the era of poodle skirts, duck-tails and hula-hoops in one of the most beloved American musicals of all time – Grease – for one weekend only at The Chicago Theatre. Frankie Avalon, reprising his role as Teen Angel from the 1978 movie, will perform a post-show stroll down musical memory lane, and rollicking pre-show dance contest, hosted by deejay Vince Fontaine, will set the tone for 2 hours of non-stop fun.

Written by Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs, the musical takes a hilarious, tuneful and loving look at what it was like growing-up in the super-cool ’50’s. At Rydell High, the Pink Ladies ruled the school and young love changed lives forever. Grease is the story of Danny Zuko, king of the Burger Palace Boys and Sandy Dumbrowski, the wholesome, naïve and pretty transfer student whose life changes forever after meeting the tough yet vulnerable Rizzo, leader of the Pink Ladies gang. Songs include “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’,” “Beauty School Dropout” and many more. For this production, special arrangements have been made to include three songs from the movie. “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “You’re The One That I Want” (by arrangement with Warner/Chappell Music) and Barry Gibb’s “Grease” (by arrangement with BMG Music Publishing).
