About This Show

When 28-year-old Chicagoan Arlen Parsa discovered his great grandfather left behind a long-lost opera that’s never been performed, he knew what he had to do to–preserve his family legacy: resurrect the show for a world premiere–80 years after it was written, of course!

Composed by Chicago’s first Hispanic music writer, Eustasio Rosales, Andina is a dark, evocative opera that defies the stereotypes of its genre. It tells the story of a young Colombian mountain girl who is caught between two suitors: one, a wealthy don from the city; the other, a simple local farmhand.

The process of resurrecting this forgotten opera is also being filmed for an upcoming documentary. Be a part of this one-night-only theatrical concert event!

Performed in Spanish with English supertitles and a full orchestra.
