New York City
In 1775, England and France are going through a period of social upheaval and political corruption. During this unsettling time, Jarvis Lorry must travel from London to Paris on business. What he encounters along the way and in the years leading up to the French Revolution, causes the destinies of many people to be irrevocably intertwined. This epic tale is populated with some of the most memorable characters in fiction and paints a picture of life in the late eighteenth century that is aptly described as “the best of times and the worst of times.”
A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, is adapted for the stage by Laura Eason. Jessica Thebus directs this production, which is
presented by Steppenwolf Arts Exchange.
