Alliance Acts: New Works Festival

Audiences get to see workshop presentations of new material in development, and have an opportunity to provide feedback to the artists. Such evenings have proven to be tremendously popular with audiences, as they get a first look at new works for the theatre.

Performance Line-Up

Westward Expansion is written and performed by Royana Black and Cecil Castellucci. Two women meet eligible bachelors on a three-day train ride: One woman is going West in the 1800s to be a mail-order bride; The other is headed East in the 2000s to meet an Internet penpal. It’s described as “an examination of women, men, love, correspondence, and the expansion of the heart.

Banter and Vows is written by Victor M. San Miguel and stars Alexis Adkins and Carlos Martin. It’s about the wedding night of an arranged marriage.

Deb and Rick on a Stick is written and performed by Deb Hiett and Richard Kuhlman and is an evening of original sketches, described by Kuhlman as “Like Mike Nichols and Elaine May, but with accordion.”
