Despite what the title may imply, Anita Bryant Died for Your Sins by Brian Christopher Williams, is really not about Anita Bryant. The World Premiere production, which is the centerpiece of this year’s Sarasota Festival of New Plays, is actually a coming of age story. An Our Town for the 21st century, the play centers on the close-knit Poore family as they struggle through the 1970’s chaos of the Vietnam War, culture clashes, economic hardships – and Anita Bryant. Steven Umberger directs.
